From myself and the rest of Harmonica Bill & Marked Deck, THANK YOU so much to all of you who attended “The Road to Memphis” last night at the Station Pub in Sayville! We had a great time and you were all just the best audience a band could ever hope for. Thank you, thank you, thank you to the Long Island Blues Society. Thanks to James Kolman for booking the gig. Ronnie Cala Shapiro, Joan Gundell Weinstein, and Nan Siegler, you are all so amazing, worked so tirelessly, and you have supported us so fiercely. And Raymond Hauck, you have truly been like a brother to me and I know that anything we do together is going to come out amazing. Thank you to our photographer, Eric Fieldstadt. Your photos have helped countless bands do their promo and get gigs, and we appreciate it so much. Hope you catch a monster fish in your tournament. Thank you so much to our amazing bands, Foster Europe (Rob Europe, Mick Hargreaves, and Matt the drummer) and the Pamela Betti band featuring Mark Fowler! You guys were amazing and you got the crowd so fired up. Both bands sounded great and I am so thankful that you all came together to support us. And thanks to the amazing Lee "El Tea" Taylor, for singing her ass off and showing everybody why Frilucha is going to kick some major ass in Memphis. Special thanks to Noah A. for helping us out on upright bass, to the amazing Piano Matt, and to Victoria for some kickass backing vocals! And to my harp buddies, Charles Martine, Joe Poretti, Jon Agnes, and Paul Curcio, for jamming! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you!

The Long Island Blues Society is helping Harmonica Bill & Marked Deck, Frilucha, and The Piano Matt Sextet along "The Road to Memphis" by raffling off two really cool guitars... The Strat-style electric guitar is signed all over by nationally touring Blues artists, and the Resonator guitar is signed by a bunch of Long Island's best Blues and Roots musicians! The drawing for each guitar will be held at the final "send-off" show in January, just before HB&MD and Frilucha compete in the International Blues Challenge and the PM6tet represents Long Island in the IBC Youth Showcase. (also, you need not be present at the send-off show to win.) Tickets are only $10... if you want a ticket, please PM me or post in the comments and I'll contact you. Thanks so much!

Here's a cool story on CBS news about the Vail-Leavitt Hall, a classic Long Island music venue that unfortunately needs a lot of repairs... but watch the whole video for an appearance by Harmonica Bill & Marked Deck!

HARMONICA BILL & MARKED DECK return to Big Daddy's this Thursday, playing lots of vintage, Chess Records-inspired blues with the harp out front (where, we all know, it should be!). We're playing from 6:30 to 9 PM. Come down and see the band, and while you're at it, have dinner... Big Daddy's has fantastic Cajun/New Orleans food as well as real Pit BBQ! Seriously, folks. The food here is off-the-charts amazing. Not to be missed. Our fans love the food here and Thursdays with HB&MD are always a great time! You can go to Big Daddy's Facebook page, where they post pics of their menu specials. You can check out their menu and schedule of events there. Check their Facebook page to see what the specials for Thursday night are! Thanks so much and see you there! Bill, Drew, Ken, Rich, and Doug

"THE ROAD TO MEMPHIS" -- Scheduling announcement #3 Ryan Hartt will be playing from 3:00PM - 3:45PM, immediately following the Bobby Nathan band. Ryan Hartt has been fronting “Ryan Hartt & The Blue Hearts” for over twenty years and has competed in the International Blues Challenge three times, representing the Connecticut Blues Society. So why is a Connecticut blues musician playing in Long Island’s “Road to Memphis” fundraiser? It's simple... he's a badass harmonica player and great blues singer. Ryan and I have been buds for a long time and he was the first harmonica player I knew that was better than me. He had better chops, richer, more developed tone, and he had a huge blues album collection, especially of all the best blues harp masters. And Ryan generously shared that music with me. Over the years we’ve chatted about all things harmonica and I’ve been a fan of his band since he started it back in the 90’s and I’ve listened extensively to all three of his album releases. Come hear why Junior Watson and Rick Holmstrom have guested on his albums; Ryan Hartt is a master of Chicago and West Coast blues and you’re going to love his set. #theshowofthesummer #dontmissthisshow #seriousbluesupinhere

THE ROAD TO MEMPHIS -- scheduling announcement #2.. FRILUCHA will be playing from 4PM to 4:45PM. Frilucha competed as a duo in the IBC qualifier and earned the right to represent LI and the Long Island Blues Society in the International Blues Challenge. As a duo, Lee Taylor (El Tea here on Facebook) and Michaela Gomez blew everybody away with soulful, sultry vocals and vintage-styled, huge-toned fingerpicked guitar. They also play with a full band... a little background on them: Frilucha was founded in 2016 by vocalist Lee Taylor. The band is an all womyn super group active in the blues and jazz scenes, both of which tend to be dominated by male musicians. Frilucha exists so that young girls can see that besides being the front person of a band, she can be a drummer, a bass player, a key player, a guitar player, whatever she wishes to be. They are working on their debut album, to be released in the fall of 2018. Harmonica Bill says DON'T MISS FRILUCHA. They are unique, they are creative, and they have that "spark", that magic, whatever you want to call it. But they got it for sure, and Frilucha is going to have more than a few new fans as soon as they kick off their set on the 26th at Katie's.
